It’s been a pleasure working with the owner of two online stores, MagaroCreations and MCsupplies, to help her declutter, organize, and freshen up her craft room/home office where she works hard every day to prepare and ship orders to her customers.

De-stress Your Space was able to meet her business needs to de-stress her space, improve her well-being, and increase productivity.

MagaroCreations | MCSupplies Home Office

MagaroCreations is an online store where customers can find unique handmade headbands, hair bows, and hair clips for babies, toddlers, teens, and women. MCsupplies is an online store where customers can find high-quality ribbons by the yard and craft supplies.

De-stress Your Space was put to the test to help the owner of these stores to declutter, organize, and freshen up her home office as she was feeling overwhelmed and stressed due to the several boxes piled up on top of each other and on the floor.

These two online stores have been growing exponentially with customers and keeping up with merchandise and preparing the orders has been on top of mind for the owner. Keeping up with the organization of the home office needed to be placed at the bottom of the list of priorities for this small business owner.

Consultation Appointment

DSYS met with the owner of these two stores during the FREE Consultation Appointment to take a tour of her home office, check out our social media for the BEFORE DSYS video, also featured at the start of this post on the left side of the gallery.

During this Consultation Appointment, DSYS learned more about her work routines and overall goals for the home office organization project. DSYS provided ideas and a tentative plan to start decluttering the room while also providing a plan to re-organize storage units and current furniture pieces to maximize space, including the room’s vertical spaces.

Organizing Sessions

There was a combination of hands-on and virtual sessions to help the owner of these online stores to maximize and organize the space in her home office. Through a combination of re-arranging current furniture, adding a few storage units, shelves, and chic storage boxes, we were able to transfor the space into a more productive, warm, inviting, organized, and de-stressed home office.

Tips to De-stress Your Craft Room Space

Maximize Vertical Space

• Maximize the space by adding shelving units and/or re-arranging your current furniture around the room. If your room is small, then aim to make the most of the vertical space.

The photos below show the addition of shelving units (CD’s shelving units, to be exact– welcome back to the ’90s) to create a “library” style in the small space. Two triple-width-wall storage with removable shelves units were added behind the main desk area so that ribbons could be organized on both sides of the “library”, and one double-width-wall storage was added to the gap on the wall at the far end of the room. These additional storage units created depth in the room and completely maximize the space! Now, ribbons of multiple colors decorate the room and are easy to find which helps to increase productivity on daily work tasks.

Re-arrange your furniture to create a fresh space layout

• We outgrow our spaces, especially if you run your successful small business from your home. By re-arranging the furniture that you already own, you can create a fresh new look that can match your current home or work life. A new and fresh space layout makes you feel like you were working in a different home or office, it also can help you increase your productivity and make more room for future merchandise and business expansion.

The photos below show the table top that was previously in the closet hidden underneath piles of boxes and ribbons. Although the tabletop had a function in that space, it now serves a more functional purpose as a desk extension. As a result, the main desk area is empty and ready for the creation of beautiful orders to be shipped every day.

Now that the tabletop is utilized as a desk extension, Magarocreations can utilize the entire desk space to prepare orders every day without having to compromise on space or peace of mind!

There were utility carts found all over the room with boxes on top of each other before DSYS. By adding storage units and shelving units across the room, we were able to organize the merchandise on each utility cart so that ribbons and other supplies are easy to find and the space does not look overcrowded.

We re-arranged the drawer-storage units, some inside the closet and others around the window. By clearing space in front of the window, we are allowing more natural light to come into the room. Additionally, this new layout creates another frame for all those ribbons, supplies, and decoration pieces in this craft room.

Add chic storage boxes to store your merchandise

• When decluttering and categorizing your merchandise, keep in mind the space currently available in your office. Adding chic touches to your storage solutions can make the space look less crowded while keeping all your items easy to find and categorized in one place.

For this project, chic storage boxes were added to categorize ribbons and other supplies, keep merchandise off the floor, and to increase the ability of the owner to find and retrieve her merchandise.

This home office space is now de-stressed, and the owner too!

… and this is just the beginning!

At the end of this project, the owner states hat she feels less stressed when stepping into her home office and that every morning when she wakes up, she goes into her room to admire her new layout and organization.

Before DSYS, she used to feel overwhelemed working in her space and did not feel as productive as now. She also mentions that her productivity levels have improved as she doesn’t feel crowded with boxes everywhere. Now, she doesn’t have to go through box after box to find the one ribbon that she needs to fulfill her client’s orders.

She has also started to refresh other spaces in her home as she now feels more energized and motivated to continue de-stressing her home spaces.
